Full course description

The Master Beekeeper course is a requirement of the third level of the UF/IFAS Master Beekeeper Program (MBP). You must be an Advanced Beekeeper in the UF/IFAS MBP in order to take this course. This course explores advanced topics in honey bee biology and introduces participants to many of the commercial aspects of beekeeping. Throughout this online course and required year of hive management experience, participating beekeepers can take their beekeeping operations and honey bee education to the next level. Read the Master Beekeeper requirements before registering for this course.

  1. Master Level Overview
  2. Commercial Pollination
  3. Integrated Pest Management
  4. African Honey Bees
  5. Honey Bee and Colony Behaviors
  6. Mating and Reproductive Biology
  7. Queen and Package Bee Production
  8. Harvesting and Processing Honey
  9. Bee Removal
  10. The Colony as a Superorganism
